Our neurological physiotherapy team treat a wide range of conditions.
Anita was the heart and soul of Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy, a practice she founded with unwavering dedication and a profound passion for helping others. Her journey in physiotherapy began in 1982 when she qualified from Bradford School of Physiotherapy. Starting as a junior physiotherapist at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Anita quickly discovered her calling in neurological physiotherapy, playing an instrumental role in developing the NHS stroke rehabilitation services in Bradford.
Her career flourished as she took on a senior post within the NHS in Leeds, where she worked alongside a Bobath tutor in the neuroscience department. During this time, Anita’s leadership and commitment to advancing the field led her to co-found the Yorkshire Neuro Special Interest Group (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Neurology – ACPIN), where she organised and ran lectures and courses throughout the Yorkshire area.
In 1990, after the birth of her first daughter, Anita transitioned from full-time NHS work to private practice. From her home in Burscough, she began treating patients, laying the foundation for what would eventually become Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy. Over the years, Anita built and led a small team of neuro physiotherapists, establishing a reputation for high-quality, patient-centred rehabilitation. Her vision and dedication culminated in the opening of the Ormskirk Rehabilitation Centre in 2010, a milestone achieved with the support of her husband, Steve.
Anita’s commitment to the practice and her patients was unwavering, and she remained deeply involved in clinical work until January 2021, when she began a well-deserved retirement. Even in retirement, her influence continued to shape the practice as she handed over her roles to Jack Moulton, who had worked closely with her since 2015.
Tragically, Anita passed away in April 2023 after a short illness. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, but her legacy lives on through the work she started and the countless lives she touched. The values she instilled in the practice—compassion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence—continue to guide us every day.
Anita’s passion for helping others achieve their goals will forever be at the core of Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy. Her spirit and vision are carried forward by the whole team, ensuring that her legacy endures in every patient we treat.

Mrs W father with right sided stroke
Mike sustained a severe head injury which left him with mobility and co-ordination problems. As Mikes wife, it is difficult for me to express how valuable this neuro physiotherapy service is to us both. Mikes quality of life is greatly enhanced by the physios efforts with him each week (thanks for everything).
Mrs M, Mikes wife, about Mike aged 52
The physiotherapy sessions my mother has had from Burscough Physiotherapy following a stroke last year have improved her movements beyond anything we could have expected. The care attention and treatment she has received from the physiotherapists dealing with her have been second to none. I would have no hesitation in recommending Burscough Physiotherapy to anyone in need of their services, they are excellent in every way.
Mrs B
I have found all the physiotherapists who come to my home approachable and helpful. They always take the time to listen and advise. Having the same therapists also helps as they have built up a good relationship with my son

May I once again thank you and your physios for all the work put in on my mum and the wonderful improvement made, not just physically but to her mental wellbeing as well. The girls have worked wonders and she and I can not thank you enough.

Kind and caring physiotherapists who give their best to improve the lives of their patients…I am impressed by the encouragement given to P throughout each session and also for the explanation of what the exercises are hoping to achieve.
